Dinan is a French commune, sub-prefecture located in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region. It is a city of the Poudouvre, traditional country of the north-east of High Brittany. Dun-Ham where the city on the hill was born around the year 1000. The oldest text relating the existence of Dinan dates back to 1040 with a man named Josselin de Dinan... He installed the seat of his lordship there.
