The Ballard Terminal Railroad - Urban Industrial Railroading in Seattle
Follow an afternoon on the Ballard Terminal Railroad in Seattle's maritime Ballard neighborhood as they use engine 98 to pull some hopper cars from Salmon Bay Sand & Gravel Co to the BNSF interchange and back. Number 98, "Ballard's Li'l Beaver," is an EMD SW1 built in 1940 for the Milwaukee Road. 86 years later, Number 98 is still hauling freight on rails rolled as early as 1905.
