Why Wode Maya's Borderless Africa is Falling APART!

While I respect everything my colleague Wode Maya has done for this continent—he is literally one of the reasons I moved to Uganda—we have to stop letting corporate pan-African branding blind us to reality. The dream of a borderless "One Africa" sounds great in a board room or on a YouTube thumbnail, but on the ground, it is failing terribly. The harsh truth is that you cannot build a unified, borderless continent when the local ecosystems fail to develop their own citizens first. Moving people from under-developed systems into slightly richer African nations without visa restrictions doesn't raise anyone up; it overwhelms public sectors, drains overpopulated healthcare systems, and strips local citizens of their economic leverage. From infrastructure strain in South Africa to undocumented competition in Kampala markets, the current trajectory is unsustainable. True unity cannot happen until we address the absolute lack of accountability, fix our broken developmental pipelines, and build real value and parity across individual states. Top-tier creators and corporate pan-Africanists are getting rich off a narrative that completely ignores the day-to-day reality of the people at the bottom.
