The Scapegoat in Atonement - Satan's Power of Death is Nullified Through Christ's Decent Into Hades

In this presentation, I propose that the answer has been hiding in plain sight within the Day of Atonement. Building on the scholarship of Jacob Milgrom and David Moffitt, this study argues that Christ fulfills not only the slain goat of Leviticus 16, but also the often-overlooked scapegoat sent to Azazel. By tracing the biblical themes of sin-bearing, Christ's descent into Hades, and Satan's role as the accuser, I suggest a unified explanation for how Jesus disarmed the devil and nullified his power of death.
