German Battery of Longues sur Mer, Normandy, France - from the air - Mike and his Drone no.40

German Battery of Longues sur Mer, Normandy, France - from the air - Mike and his Drone no.40 The German battery at Longues-sur-Mer sits on a cliff between Omaha and Gold beaches, overlooking the English Channel. Built in concrete casemates, it was part of the Atlantic Wall and armed with four 150 mm naval guns designed to hit Allied ships offshore. On D-Day, June 6, 1944, the battery fired on the invasion fleet and drew return fire from British cruisers, which damaged but did not completely destroy it. Unusually well preserved, the site still has its original guns, observation bunker, and command post, offering a stark, windswept snapshot of coastal warfare in Normandy.
