OMG does Missouri have wild brook trout?! No way jack, we have wild rainbows. I'm talking WILD. All throughout the Ozark blue ribbon trout scene you can find yourself some absolute dandies. But I must say I have yet to find many that compare to the trout of my near and dear Lil Piney. This is where I would go as a lad to get lost in the Ozark Mountains as I found my passion for fly fishing. Some of my most fond memories can be traced back to this emerald water empire. From my first time ever fishing here to this very day, I have NEVER been crowded by hordes of rabid anglers. There are miles of public water both upstream and downstream of Lane Springs Recreation Area. Hike. Wade. Swim. Don't be a baby. You will find solitude. OHHH and a stupid number of fish. This creek is extremely healthy and full of some of the most beautiful trout in the state (I would argue the world). But everything is relative right? More folks should know about this place. Wanna know why? If no one knows, no one cares. It would be a shame to see "your" secrets die with you. The internet is a super scawwy place..
