Mazinkaiser (マジンカイザー Majinkaizā?) is a Japanese anime OVA produced by Brain's Base and Dynamic Productions, based on the Mazinkaiser design that debuted in the Super Robot Wars video games and Go Nagai's original Mazinger Z manga. The mecha anime series was originally released in Japan between 2001 and 2002 on DVD in seven 30-minute episodes. Later, the series spawned the 2003 animated film Mazinkaiser vs. Shogun of Darkness (マジンカイザーVS闇の将軍, Mazinkaiser vs. The Black General), directed by Masahiko Murata. In this new story, Mazinkaiser is a combat robot inspired by the well-known Mazinger Z. It is the creation of Dr. Juzo Kabuto, intended to be piloted by his own grandson, Kōji Kabuto. In Spain, both the OVAs and the film were distributed on DVD and Blu-ray by Selecta Visión in 2015.
