Why I Drop a Video Everyday at 6:30am

Why do I wake up every morning at 4:00 a.m. to drop a video into your feed at 6:30 a.m.? Because I want mental health to be at the tip-top of your brain—right alongside the weather, celebrity news, sports scores, and everything else you consume every day. Mental health is not something we should only talk about when life is falling apart. I’m here to help make mental health normal. To make it part of our everyday conversations, routines, and culture. Hopefully, something you hear in one of these videos inspires you, helps you approach your day differently, or unlocks a struggle you encounter along the way. During today’s video, I also get a very unexpected surprise from Taygun Ozakinci, Musical Director for MWA Live! Music, who just happens to be in the car ahead of me in the Cane’s drive-thru. MWA Live! Music is our experiential mental health program that brings kids and teens together through music, creativity, connection, and performance. It gives musicians of all experience levels an opportunity to build confidence, develop relationships, express themselves, practice working through discomfort, and experience the mental health benefits of making music with others. It is mental health outside of the traditional therapy office—on a stage, in a rehearsal, and through the shared experience of creating something together. MWA Live! Music starts back up in August. Midwest Anxiety is a community based program for children, teens, and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and more generalized problems involving negative thoughts, feelings, or behaviors.  Unlike traditional office-based psychotherapy, we work with people in “real life” situations in their natural environments (home, school, sporting events, etc). Instead of coming to us in a stuffy office, we come visit you in your world. We believe this “hands on” approach gives us the best opportunity to see your strengths and help you overcome your struggles in the environments you live. Our mobility allows us to work with you in "real time."  No "see you in a couple weeks" for your next appointment.  We work in the moments (daily if needed) and in the environments of your struggles. Understanding in real time, in your natural environments, helps us implement step-by-step Cognitive Behavioral strategies to modify negative patterns as they arise.  So grab a snack, put your feet up, and will be over soon to do mental health differently ;) Want to know more about who we are? https://www.midwestanxiety.com/#menta...
