Classic Boston Whaler Montauk Review

In this video I give a review of my 1986 Boston Whaler Montauk 17. This is the most popular boat that Boston Whaler has ever made. Although the Montauk is still made, the new ones are quite a bit different than the originals and A LOT more expensive. These Classic Montauk's are great for the following reasons: BENEFITS -Unsinkable -Very stable and dry -Small size and light weight make them easy to trailer (900lbs not including -motor) -Simple (everything can get wet, minimal switches, external fuel tanks, fits in a garage, etc.) -Low cost. You can find these boats for roughly $10k-$20k depending on motor condition. MOTOR SPECS The most common motors for these boats are 90 and 70hp. I'd recommend the 90hp. The best motor was an Evinrude Etec because of it's weight and torque. Unfortunately, Evinrude no longer makes Etec's. Therefore, Yamaha, Suzuki and Mercury are the best choices going forward.
