Lanovka na Václaváku nebude – i díky vám

The video we dedicated to the transformation of Wenceslas Square attracted more attention than anyone expected. In it, we pointed out that instead of the planned tram connection between Wenceslas Square and Vinohrady, a cable car would be built on the square... But in the end - thanks to you, the viewers of Live Prague - the city turned around! The original video dedicated to the "cable car on Wenceslas Square" can be found here:    • Václavák čekají změny - proč tu bude lanovka?   The uproar at the authorities The publication of the video, in which we pointed out that the tram link between Wenceslas Square and Vinohrady is not due to be put into operation until four years after the tracks are laid on the square, so that the tram will only go up and down like a cable car, caused an uproar not only at the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague. Prague, but also with city officials. Suddenly, the tide turned - mainly thanks to the public's reaction and pressure. An internal report of the transport company even says that "in view of the negative public response to the possibility of a longer period of independent operation of the Wenceslas Square line without the Museum line, the timetable has been revised". No cable car, yes tram In the end, the planned extension of the tram line from Wenceslas Square to Vinohrady will indeed take place. This will not only be appreciated by passengers, who will save time, for example, when travelling from Masarycka to Vinohrady, but it will also be a change for the better for the square itself. Instead of the tourist open-air museum that the upper part of Wenceslas Square is today, Prague's citizens will hopefully return here and the square will come to life again. What do you ride? So what will the tram line on Wenceslas Square look like? The tram will be built in three places - in the middle, where trams now go to Jindřišská, then by the horse and finally in the middle of the main street next to the National Museum. A total of three lines will cross the square. No. 6, which will end up taking a detour via Lazarska and Karlovo náměstí, No. 13, which will run between Vršovice and the centre, but instead of Flora it will go to Prague Castle, and No. 21 connecting Flora and Radlice.
