Rosemaling with Art of Lise is Back! Freehand Telemark Stroke work demonstration - ASMR painting

Welcome back to Rosemaling with Art of Lise.. It's Just Paint! I am back, finally, Once again with what I hope is a fun and relaxing to watch video demonstrating the C and S brush strokes that make up rosemaling. This piece is a commissioned letter that is painted in many of the traditional colors we see in rosemaling. I am using a round brush to paint this Telemark freehand design on this 18" in length piece. I apologize for the video quality, I was experimenting with zoom, so the sound and video quality is a little wonky!! Not a professional videographer here! LOL There will be a second video that will come out that will demonstrate the detailing of this piece as well, so be on the lookout for that! I hope you all enjoy the process of pulling these strokes together to make this fun commission. Though Rosemaling is traditionally an oil art form, this video demonstrates rosemaling in acrylics. I have spent 40 plus years of my life with a rosemaling brush in my hand, 20 exclusively in oils and then I transitioned to acrylics which is now my primary focus. Rosemaling is the traditional painted decorative folk art from Norway that began in the 1600's. Because of Norway's mountainous terrain and hundreds of valleys, the people of Norway had many dialects, native costume, traditions, ext. Norway also had a wealth of artisan traditions to draw from dating from the Viking era. When decorative painting styles reached Norway in the 1600's, it went into all this different areas and created over 15 different styles of Rosemaling, hence making it one of the most interesting folk arts to learn about and to paint.
