Eshel: Tamarisk | Preaching the Trees | FPC Dallas

We begin our summer sermon series, Eshel: Preaching the Trees. Eshel is the Hebrew word for the tamarisk tree Abraham planted at Beersheba. The rabbis say it is also an acronym for eating, drinking, and lodging. A tree as an inn. Throughout Scripture, trees are more than scenery. They mark covenants, hold grief, signal callings, and reveal something about the character of God. This summer, we will gather beneath ten biblical trees and consider how we are shaped by what we sit under. This week, we begin with the tamarisk tree from Genesis 21.22–34, a slow-growing desert tree planted by Abraham as a sign of peace, hospitality, covenant, and hope beyond one lifetime.
