The special bonus for members of Congress will remain in effect following a precautionary measure issued by the Council of State, which provisionally suspended Decree 030 of 2026 issued by the national government. The high court halted the measure to prevent irreversible economic repercussions and a cascading effect on the salaries of high-ranking officials in the Attorney General's Office, the Inspector General's Office, the Judiciary, and the National Registry, whose income is legally tied to the salaries of members of Congress. The lawsuit, filed by lawyer Sady Andrés Orjuela and supported by the Inspector General's Office, argues that eliminating this benefit violated the prohibition against reducing the salary conditions of public servants. With this provisional ruling, the monthly bonus payment will continue, amounting to approximately 16.9 million pesos per member of Congress for 2026.
