Venezuela is experiencing critical hours, as the first 72 hours after the tragedy are vital for finding survivors under the rubble. In the municipality of Chacao, Caracas' financial center with 80,000 residents and up to two million daily visitors, the search is focused on three buildings that completely collapsed out of the 700 existing structures. Mayor Gustavo Duque explained that the emergency was caused by two consecutive earthquakes: the first of magnitude 7.2 and, just 10 seconds later, a second quake of 7.3.
