Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced that Indonesia has officially become a founding member of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO). According to Airlangga, Indonesia's participation follows up on President Prabowo Subianto's directive to actively participate in developing global AI governance. Airlangga explained that its status as a founding member provides Indonesia with the opportunity to directly participate in discussions on the direction of global AI development, while simultaneously encouraging the use of technology that is inclusive, safe, ethical, and beneficial to society.
