Blaise Taylor was a college football star and a pro scout for the Tennessee Titans. The state says he was also a killer. Prosecutors allege that in February 2023, Taylor poisoned his girlfriend, 25-year-old chef Jade Benning, slipping a lethal amount of cocaine into something she drank, because he did not want the baby she was carrying. Jade collapsed and later died at the hospital on her 25th birthday. Her unborn daughter had died days before. According to the state, Jade named Taylor before she died, telling a friend he had put something in her drink. Taylor is charged with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder and two counts of felony murder, and the state is seeking life without parole. But this case is a fight, and here is why.
