The correct water hardness setting ensures a delicious coffee taste and prevents unnecessary descaling or premature filter replacement. In this video, Daniël from Eccellente.com shows you how to perform the water hardness test and set it up on your Philips 2200 coffee machine in less than 1 minute. Step 1 – GETTING READY What you need: 1 Eccellente water hardness test strip 1 glass of cold tap water A switched-off Philips coffee machine Step 2 – TESTING WATER HARDNESS Remove the test strip from the packaging and briefly immerse it in the glass of water. Shake off the excess water and lay the strip down. After 30 seconds, you can read the result using the color chart on the packaging. Step 3 – SETTING WATER HARDNESS Your Philips 2200 coffee machine has 4 water hardness settings, indicated by red/orange dots: 1 dot = up to 4 °DH 2 dots = up to 7 °DH 3 dots = up to 14 °DH 4 dots = 21 °DH or higher Press and hold the coffee strength button for 5 seconds until the dots light up and the start/stop button flashes. Use the coffee strength button to select the correct setting and press start to save. It is that simple to set the water hardness correctly for the best coffee taste ☕ 💡 Advice: Check the water hardness 1 to 2 times a year, especially if you move or notice that your filter needs to be replaced more frequently.
