Whilst the song Long Shot Kick de Bucket by the Pioneers is the most well known atrack was released in 1968 called Long Shot (Bus Me Bet) which celebrated this famous racing horse. A follow-up song was released the following year called Long Shot Kick de Bucket, which tells the story of the horse falling and dying at Caymanas Park race track. Long Shot raced more than any other horse in Jamaica and the song is about race 203. The Pioneers were, after some early attempts at success, one of the early bands in the Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae sound explosion. Started in 1962 with brothers Sydney and Derrick Crooks with their friend Winston Hewitt, but broke up in 1967. Later, Sydney recruited Jackie Robinson and then George Agard (aka George Dekker) to become a trio again. Ska started in Jamaica in the late 1950s/early 1960s and came from musicians who had been brought up on Calypso, Mento, American Jazz, R&B and started experimenting with new rhythmic approaches and the use of brass instruments with a fast-paced rhythm. A simple background with a key vocal. In the 1970s, there was a ska revival in the UK led by the Two-Tone label. One of the more famous bands was the Specials from Coventry and this is them performing live in 1979 that gave a more punk approach to ska music. Interestingly, Two tone was often used to describe the two chord structure in the harmony of some ska songs.
