Crews demolishing smoldering New Jersey warehouse 3 days after massive fire

Firefighters in Belleville, New Jersey, are still battling smoldering hot spots three days after a massive warehouse fire broke out inside a mattress factory on Cortlandt Street. Drone 12 video shows demolition crews tearing down what remains of the fire‑ravaged building in an effort to allow water to reach areas that continue to burn. The Belleville mayor says the fire is still active but contained, with five or six nearby towns assisting in the response. Officials say air quality testing is being conducted at four school locations and at the fire site itself as a precaution. Video believed to be from inside the warehouse on Sunday shows a small flame flickering before quickly spreading out of control. The mayor says welding is believed to have played a role in the cause, and that police, fire officials and arson investigators are reviewing the video circulating on social media. Caravella Demolition is handling the demolition operation, working slowly and carefully to bring the building down one floor at a time so remaining hot spots can be extinguished.
