How To Put A NEW Hem On Your Jeans | Step By Step

Let's hem some jeans that are too long! There's two ways to do this, a professional way where they keep the original hem and this way where we make a new hem. I like this way better because it looks cleaner. You need a sewing machine, a ruler, some chalk, and a safety pin or a sewing pin. Mark your jeans with the chalk and the safety pin where you want them to end. Make sure you're wearing shoes so that you can get the length right. Then flip them inside out and draw a line with your chalk straight across. Measure one inch down from there and draw another line. Now cut along that second line and tuck everything inside. All you are doing is sewing a straight stitch right across, and when you're done you're done! It won't look exactly the same at first, but that's because it needs to be worn first.
