U.S. Presidents on Bank Notes Collection Part 3
Welcome to Polar Currency and video number 88 Obsolete Presidential Bank Notes Part 3. About four years ago I decided to research and see if I could put a collection together of Obsolete Banknotes with as many U.S. Presidents on them. There have been 17 potential presidents that have had their portraits on Obsolete banknotes. There were only 17 presidents because obsoletes became, well obsolete, when the U.S. began issuing paper currency in 1862 making it unprofitable for banks to issue their own currency. For more information on Obsolete Banknotes check out my video Obsolete Beauty, What are Obsolete Banknotes? This group of U.S. Presidents tends to be a forgotten lot of the 1840s Antebellum period leading up to the Civil War. Not surprising because two of them died and not one served a second term.
