Dark Star ~ Attics of My Life ~ Dark Star ~ Sugar Magnolia ~ St Stephen - Grateful Dead - Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, NY 1970-06-24 56 years ago tonight, on June 24, 1970, the Grateful Dead performed with New Riders of the Purple Sage at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. I'm pretty sure that the dead played at this venue more than any other venue in the world. Many will say that this 1970 era of the dead rivals Spring of 1977. I'm partial to Spring of 1977 but some of these jams from the early seventies are priceless. This is a clip from the deads 2nd set that night... 3 separate "Dark Stars" nestled around "Attics of My Life," "Sugar Magnolia," and "St. Stephen." Classic. Since I used a clip from the first part of "Dark Star" in a "shorts" post this morning, i felt as if i needed to post the full version of the tune. Enjoy!! Special thanks and credit goes to whoever created and posted the photos i used in this clip. I took them from the web. If the owner of these photos would like them removed, please let me know. I saw the grateful dead back in 1979 when i was 15... that night changed my life. i was amazed by everything i saw, felt, and heard, from start to finish. Most impressive was the lead guitarist, Jerry Garcia. He had something special, some magic in him, for sure. The band as a whole was one of a kind, but Garcia stood out. From the start, I always thought of it as the "Phil & Jerry show." That night, 1/18/1979, put me on a fantastically long, strange, trip that i'm still on today. I'm happy to say that i saw the grateful dead 78 times. I also went to as many JGB shows as i could- i don't have a count on those. i can truly say that i definitely didn't see either band often enough! My name is Leo. Through the years i never really learned how to play the guitar. Just played it and struggled the whole way. Haven't had a lesson... I've tried not to listen to anyone about it- and it probably shows. What i offer you is me, and this music from my heart, born of pure love and emotion. Hopefully you'll feel some of it as you listen. I'm not the best singer but i love to sing the dead and garcia tunes. There's so much meaning behind all of it for me. I know many of you share this same feeling... its something special and very difficult to describe. Something about Garcia's sincerity when he sang rubbed off on all of us. We remember when we hear their music. I miss Jerry every day. His music is an inspiration... #shortvideo #shortsvideo #nature #wildlife #gratefuldead #music #livemusic #jerrygarcia #love #video #jerrygarciaband #phillesh #bobweir #shortfeed
