He responded with a more powerful engine, twin-rear shock absorbers, uprated suspension and a raft of other changes to create what was coined the Renault 8 Gordini, a pocket rocket that won three Tour De Corse rally events, showed up more expensive rivals like the Lancia Fulvia and cemented Renault’s reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
