Sternal Angle - Angle of Louis

The events at the manubriosternal joint include; rib/costal cartilage (2nd), aortic arch (beginning/ending), bifurcation of trachea, pulmonary trunk bifurcation, left recurrent laryngeal nerve loops (and Ligamentum arteriosum), the azygos vein drains into superior vena cava, cardiac plexus and the thoracic duct passes from right to left behind esophagus. Others are; superior and inferior mediastinum demarcation, 4th intervertebral disc between T4/5. the end of the ascending aorta and the beginning of the descending aorta.
