We’re Helen and Andy, and we’re on our epic French road trip! As early retirees traveling full-time in our campervan, this is the first stop in a brand-new series as we embark on a massive loop around the country. Our journey begins in the historic landscapes of Normandy and will take us south into the heart of the Dordogne, across to the fairy-tale villages of Alsace, and finally north through the moving sites of Verdun and the Somme. Our first stop on this journey is the lovely Camping-Car Park in Saint-Benoît. Located in a beautiful green setting along the Clain River, this motorhome area offers a wonderful sense of peace and relaxation. The site features a mix of stabilized and grass pitches, making it a very comfortable spot to set up camp in the van. The location is perfect for exploring, with the 9th-century Benedictine Abbey just a short walk away and plenty of scenic trails through the Clain Valley for those who enjoy a bit of nature. It’s also incredibly convenient for visiting the historic city of Poitiers.
