Behind the ancient walls of Fort Speelwijk, Banten, are several graves from the 18th-century Dutch East India Company (VOC), which are by far the oldest Dutch graves I've ever visited during my time writing content. This VOC-era Dutch cemetery complex in Old Banten houses the burials of Fort Speelwijk, Banten's "retainers" who worked to maintain the fort's operations. Some of the graves listed include a Dutch East India Company Lieutenant named Hugo Pieter Faure, who died in 1763, and several others. However, most of the gravestones in this VOC cemetery complex have disappeared.
