This episode describes all functions and rituals performed by Gajapati Maharaja of Puri as prescribed for centuries in Shree Jagannath Temple,Puri.Gajapati kings were in charge of detailed management of Shree Jagannath Temple administration since in addition to performing certain important rituals as adya or first servitor from among 119 varieties of servitors described in Record of rights.However after promulgation of Shree Jagannath Temple Act post independence,their administrative role has been handed over to a managing committee for the temple of which he is the non executive permanent chairman.
