It's worth it, and you can always count on our support! Our project today is called "Building Your Own Wooden Terrace" and shows you step by step how to build a wooden terrace yourself. We opted for untreated larch decking boards for our terrace, which we then oiled. However, this is entirely a matter of personal preference. You can just as easily leave them untreated or apply a wood stain. If larch isn't the right wood for your terrace, that's no problem either. We look forward to hearing from you! 00:00 – Preparation Completely dismantle the old terrace (boards, substructure, plants). Remove or level any uneven concrete planters. 03:41 – Foundations Set H-anchors as point foundations and align them using string. Determine the terrace height and mark out the area. 05:01 – Substructure Prepare the substructure: Spread 3 cm of gravel, lay weed control fabric, use lawn edging as a base for the substructure. Use 8 mm rubber pads to prevent waterlogging. 06:26 – Substructure & Posts Set the posts (cladding + impact protection). Lay the substructure and apply moisture protection tape. 10:13 – Lighting Plan the lighting, select the transformer, and lay the cables. 14:06 – Laying the Decking Boards Cut and align the first board with a 10 mm gap from the wall. Attach the decking boards with clips and clamp any warped boards. 20:10 – Finishing Touches Make a lengthwise cut along the edge with a plunge saw.
