My Best Dish On The Swedish Christmas Table | JANSSONS FRESTELSE

Janssons frestelse (Jansson’s temptation in English) is without a doubt my favorite Swedish Christmas food. And I think a lot of Swedes out there will agree with me when I say that the Christmas table (the Swedish julbord) is not complete without it. It’s so delicious! And, to make it even better, it only requires a few ingredients. This dish is similar to a potato gratin, but it has anchovies in it which gives an amazing savory flavor. And the fish is very salty, so no extra salt is needed. I bake my Janssons frestelse in the oven at 175°C (350°F) for 1 hour. I then add a layer of breadcrumbs and put it back into the oven at 225°C (440°F) until golden brown. This usually takes around 10 minutes. Make sure to keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn. If you try this once, I promise, you’ll be surprised at how delicious it is. And for the Swedes out there, you’ll love this recipe. Cheers! 📌 INGREDIENTS • Potatoes • Onion • Anchovies • Heavy cream • Breadcrumbs • Butter • Black pepper If you want to learn how to make the traditional Swedish Christmas table (julbord), see the link below.
