Avventura solitaria al Rifugio Arbolle – Escursione tra le Alpi valdostane

August 12, 2025 This morning I set out on foot from Pila, an Alpine town in the Aosta Valley at about 1,800 meters. I left the noise of the ski lifts behind me and set off along the farm road that climbs toward Alpe Chamolé, crossing sloping meadows until I reached Lake Chamolé: a clear body of water framed by mountains. From there, I tackled the climb toward Colle Chamolé, at 2,641 meters. The trail became rockier, but every step was rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Once I reached the summit, I stopped for a moment to breathe deeply: the panorama seemed suspended in time. The descent took me to the Rifugio Arbolle, immersed in an authentic Alpine setting, just steps from its namesake lake, tranquil and silent. There, I treated myself to a break: a simple lunch and a moment of relaxation. For the return journey, I chose a circular route through the Comboé Valley; the silence was broken only by the sound of the water and the wind in the larches.
