Mt Barney NP - North East Shoulder

-- A visit to the NE shoulder of Isolated peak -- Archive Spring 2025 : Lower Portals car park - Rocky Creek Break - Approach ridge - NE ridge. Distance : A little over 3km one way. Walking conditions : Tracks, fire roads, the scrubby approach ridge and rock scrambling below the peak. Notes : From my readings, this is apparently the NE ridge of Mt Barney, with Isolated peak being part of the Mt Barney massif. The ridge leads straight on to the peak, but the highest part of the route is very exposed. On this day, I hadn't expected to reach the mountain on account of bushfire regrowth, but found the way passable and reached one of my favourite spots, the shoulder of the NE ridge. I did some exploring below the central bluff of the ridge, and found many scrambling opportunities. I hope to get back there soon with more time and some rope. Backburning has been undertaken since this footage was collected, so there will be further changes to the landscape, but the regrowth is over 3m tall now, making passage a lot easier.
