Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA): Stabilizing Your Baby After Delivery (3 of 5)
Physicians and surgeons from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia explain how in some babies an opening between the upper two chambers of the heart needs to be created quickly after birth. They describe the Rashkind procedure, which was invented at CHOP, to create an opening that allows mixing of blue and red blood. This procedure allows babies to become stable before surgery to repair TGA. To learn more about transposition of the great arteries, visit the Cardiac Center at CHOP http://heart.chop.edu.
