Sweden Keeps Changing How I Feel About Health #wellness

This week I escaped to one of the beautiful islands just outside Gothenburg, Sweden expecting a few peaceful days surrounded by nature, quiet landscapes, and the kind of balance that comes naturally when life slows down. And mentally… I felt incredible. But physically, something felt completely off. As a chef with a background in herbalism and nutrition, experiences like this always remind me of something I think modern food culture has made us forget: we’ve become incredibly disconnected from our bodies and what they truly need. After a few days of restaurant food, rich meals, travel, indulgence, and stepping away from my normal routines, I could feel my body asking for something different. I'm particularly fascinated with how vacations are meant to be this time of rebalancing and restoration, and yet if we're not in tune with ourselves they can easily become a time of unconscious consumption that never achieves the original goal of why we took that time off in the first place. In this video, I talk about how I personally approach rebalancing after travel, why cleansing has been misunderstood, how I focus on supporting the body’s natural systems through micronutrient dense foods, and why I believe health looks radically different for every single person. There is no perfect diet and there is no universal blueprint for wellness. The real goal is learning how to understand what helps your own body feel vibrant, energized, and supported. Living in Sweden has been teaching me so much about slowing down and reconnecting with what actually matters, and in doing so I’m realizing that learning how to listen to ourselves might be one of the most important skills we can develop.
