Rethinking My Dreams as a Conscious Traveler

Work with me: https://stan.store/chelseawallace/ Ask me questions in the DMs on Instagram:   / thechelseawallace   I've wanted to get to Japan for probably two decades, y'all. Since my anime and manga era. And when I think about traveling there, so much of what I'm imagining is the food. But then I watched Seaspiracy. And I haven't been able to think about it the same way since. In this video I'm thinking out loud about what it actually means to travel with an open heart when the systems behind the meal on your plate are deeply broken. I'm talking about the tension between honoring a culture's traditions and knowing the ecological devastation behind the global industries. I'm talking about what it means to be complicit, what it means to have no stake and no voice in a country that isn't yours, and whether conscious travel means learning more about a place than the rose-colored version you've been imagining for years. I don't have answers, honestly. But I'm curious whether you do. If you've wrestled with this kind of tension as a traveler, or even just as someone thinking about where to go next, drop your thoughts in the comments below. And if this kind of conscious, intentional conversation about culture, food, and how we move through the world is your thing, subscribe so you don't miss the next one. 00:00 The tension I can't shake 00:54 Food as cultural love language 03:23 Seaspiracy and what I found 05:42 Japan and why it hit different 09:15 Do I even have a voice here? 13:05 Ethical nuance and real talk 17:02 I understand though 19:32 What conscious travel actually looks like 23:12 Eco tourism and doing the research 24:38 Europe, empire, and the same tension 25:27 Do you feel this?
