Thus, by adapting a very simple and rustic open-top body, combined with the excellent chassis of the AB-41 armored vehicle, Viberti of Turin created the AS 42 “SAHARIANA” truck in 1942; it was the most modern reconnaissance vehicle used in Africa for long-range desert operations.
