Battaglia di El Alamein, i mezzi corazzati della divisione Ariete visti da vicino

The Battle of El Alamein, like other desert battles, saw massive formations of armored vehicles in action throughout its various phases (July–November 1942). Although technologically inferior, the Italian vehicles were pushed to the limits of their combat capabilities, being almost entirely annihilated after strenuous resistance. In particular, the 132nd Ariete Division was destroyed, with its last tanks depleted of ammunition, on November 4 (their last message is famous: "Enemy tanks have broken through to the south of the Ariete Division. Ariete is thus surrounded, located 5 km northwest of Bir-el-Abd. Ariete tanks are fighting"), putting up resistance equal to that of the legendary Folgore paratroopers. The Raggruppamento SPA association owns an M14/42 tank, an improved model compared to the one used at El Alamein (M 14/41), but substantially almost identical (it belonged to the Ariete, with colonial livery and historical symbols - added from the battle). The model is perfectly functional, a rarity. It also owns a much more efficient 75/18 self-propelled gun, also derived from the M tank, but with a gun capable of destroying any Allied tank.
