The Non Profit Blues Plans, Leading the Way on Affordability and Access - 2026 MMH FORUM

This panel, moderated by Arin McClune of Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association will highlight how Blue Cross Blue Shield health plans and their partners are collaborating to expand access to maternal health care and maternal mental health services. Dr. Bryan Buckley of CareFirst will discuss improving access to care, including aligning commercial and Medicaid payment rates for doulas. He will also discuss philanthropic community investments alongside Dr. Marla Dean of the Greater Washington Community Foundation, who will explain how the Foundation partnered with CareFirst to seed-fund community programs. Anne Wanlund of Canopie and Dr. Kelli Tice of Florida Blue will share lessons from a partnership with Canopie, a digital, preventive maternal mental health solution. Together, the panel will showcase practical, scalable models that leverage payer leadership, technology, and community partnerships to improve outcomes for mothers and families.
