Southeastern and Thameslink Trains at Rainham (Kent) on September 26th 2024

1st visit to Rainham (Kent) on the Chatham Main Line Featuring services from Southeastern, Thameslink and a suprise visit from 35028 'Clan Line' hauling the British Belmond Pullman to Dover Priory There was disruption earlier that morning on Thameslink due to a issue in the depot at Bedford Rainham (Kent) station unusually was opened in 1858 as Rainham & Newington by the East Kent Railway when the Chatham Main Line was extended from Chatham to Faversham The Newington name was dropped in 1862 at the same time a station of that name opened being the next stop towards Sittingbourne and the present station became Rainham On some signage its advertised as Rainham (Kent) to avoid confusion of the same station name on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway line between London Fenchurch Street and Grays. Access to both platforms are provided either via the station entrance to the London Bound Platform 1 or via a level crossing and a simpler access to Platform 2 Since May 2018 Thameslink services to and from Luton via Greenwich in the form of 8 car Class 700/0s terminate here via Platform 0. Southeastern services are a mixture of services to and from London Victoria to Ramsgate and Dover Priory via Bromley South which largely nowadays most operated by Class 375 Electrostars eventhough on occasional weekend services to Dover Priory can be operated by Class 465 Networkers which at the time of filming their days in service are numbered and are likely to be replaced by around 2030 having first entered service on Southeastern services in the early 1990s just before Privatisation A mixture of High Speed services which began running in December 2009 are operated by Class 395 Javelins to and from London St Pancras via Ebbsfleet and Strood which alternate services to and from Faversham or some extended to Ramsgate which at the time a mid life refurbishment was ongoing.
