Indian Bayou Area Recon - Hiking in the Atchafalaya Basin in South Louisiana - Gators and Snakes

Alligators, snakes, birds and lots of greenery. Hiked 6.0 miles of portions of the trails at Indian Bayou Area to get an idea of the area. I parked at the Indian Bayou Area. Then I walked to the front and across the bridge to the southern trailhead of Indian Bayou Loop. I hiked 2.0 miles of Indian Bayou Loop on the south side of Indian Bayou. I hiked 4.0 miles along White Shell Trail, exploring the various old Oil Field Production Platforms. And finally, I reached Atchafalaya Levee Road and hiked north back up to the picnic area. This is a great area for families and friends to get away. its only a 45 minute drive outside of Lafayette. Remember to bring water and bug spray. #hike #hiking #jungle #jungletrek #trekking
