Révoltes #3 - Gilets jaunes, l'inattendue mobilisation

On November 17, 2018, the movement's first mobilization took place. Citizens, wearing yellow vests, descended on roundabouts and blocked strategic roads to protest rising fuel prices. And every Saturday, for months, their numbers swelled, and public anger grew. This unprecedented movement has attracted the attention of many researchers due to its unique nature. This is the case for Antoine Bernard de Raymond and Sylvain Bordiec, both sociologists in Bordeaux. In 2024, they published "Sociology of the Yellow Vests: Reproduction and Social Struggles," a book in which they recount their observations and encounters with numerous Yellow Vest members. How did a social revolt without a traditional union framework manage to endure? What was the strength of the Yellow Vests?
