These two training modalities perfectly complement each other and… plug each other’s holes…? Calisthenics is brilliant for training the chest, shoulders, triceps, and core, in particular. It can also be great for training the lats and biceps… as long as you have access to a pull up bar. It teaches proprioception and body awareness. BUT calisthenics isn’t great for training the legs, or for training rotation. It doesn’t give you much opportunity to rotate the body. Kettlebell training offers all the opposite benefits. It’s also a great tool for adding conditioning and work capacity. PLUS you can use a kettlebell to train lats and biceps even without a pull up bar.
