Hi, this is Azamat Tkhaganov. I present to you a video in which I will talk about sinusitis, namely #sinusitisdiagnosis, #sinusitissymptoms, causes of sinusitis, consequences of sinusitis, types of sinusitis, and much more. Sinusitis, sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, ethmoiditis, rhinosinusitis. There is no person who doesn't know at least one of these words. And many have suffered from them. I myself have had sinusitis, so I know the forms of sinusitis as a doctor and as a patient. What is frontal sinusitis, and can sinusitis occur without a runny nose? Diagnosing sinusitis is simple. You will learn how to recognize sinusitis, how to distinguish sinusitis from a runny nose, and the mechanism of sinusitis. You will understand whether you have sinusitis or a runny nose, and which is worse: chronic sinusitis or acute sinusitis. The signs of sinusitis vary. Purulent and catarrhal sinusitis. Sinusitis is treated by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or an ENT specialist. If sinusitis is odontogenic, i.e., caused by a tooth, it is treated by a maxillofacial surgeon. You will understand how to distinguish sinusitis from a runny nose. Essentially, the nose and sinuses are all part of the nose and its parts. The nasal cavity is the center, and the paranasal sinuses are the periphery. Naturally, the center and periphery communicate with each other via fistulas, or, more simply, thin channels. You will learn what the paranasal sinuses (PNS) are and that their anatomy is not complicated. Surely some of you have suffered from sinusitis and were treated by an ENT doctor, and some by a maxillofacial surgeon. This is because the causes of sinusitis can vary, and accordingly, treatment is also slightly different. Yes, your sinuses constantly produce mucus in varying quantities, and it's secreted through the sinuses into your nose and expelled, or you swallow it. But while you're healthy, you don't notice it. When you get sick, you know the feeling—the endless runny nose. So, as long as your mucus flows freely, everything will be fine. But if something gets in the way, that's when problems begin. If, for whatever reason, the mucus doesn't drain, or drains poorly, it begins to linger and stagnate in the sinuses, creating favorable conditions for microbes to thrive, and as a result, the inflammation progresses. Therefore, acute sinusitis is most often the result of a long-term, untreated runny nose. This is when mucus drainage from the sinuses is impaired. But there is another cause of sinusitis, unrelated to a runny nose. Sometimes, teeth in the upper jaw, most often the sixth or seventh, can extend their roots into the maxillary sinuses. When these teeth decay, the inflammatory process spreads from them to the sinuses, causing odontogenic sinusitis (called tooth-related sinusitis). The first thing you should be concerned about is that after 1-2 weeks, your runny nose hasn't cleared up as usual and some symptoms persist. You may have previously unheard headaches, a foul odor in your nose, and weakness. If so, there's a high probability that you have sinusitis or another type of sinusitis. It's also possible that you've developed a toothache in your upper jaw. You haven't seen a dentist, but you've been patient and taken painkillers. Then, one day, you notice that half or all of your head is aching, not just the tooth, and you've started having nasal discharge, possibly with a foul odor. In this case, you most likely have odontogenic sinusitis. However, no one is discounting the possibility that sinusitis can have two causes—from both the nose and the tooth. Any sinusitis is most often accompanied by a headache, which can be intermittent in the early stages and vary in intensity and location. With sinusitis, the pain is felt on one side of the face and head. In advanced stages, the pain can radiate—even to the neck. Frontal sinusitis and ethmoiditis cause pain primarily in the forehead. Sphenoiditis causes pain in the back of the head. But the occurrence of these pains must have a definite cause and effect relationship. It is possible that it is an acute respiratory infection, which is treated differently. 00:00 - Promo 00:36 - Definition of sinusitis 01:26 - Anatomy of the paranasal sinuses 05:00 - Causes or etiology, mechanism of sinusitis development 07:25 - Odontogenic sinusitis (from a tooth) 08:17 - Signs of sinusitis 09:49 - Headache with different types of sinusitis 10:10 - Difference between sinusitis and a runny nose 10:49 - Is it possible to treat sinusitis at home? 11:31 - Diagnosis of sinusitis 11:47 - Examination o...
