Le murmure des abysses, avec Jozée Sarrazin #100

The Baladeurs series also exists in comic book form; visit https://www.lesbaladeurs.fr to discover them. 🎧 Embark on a submersible dive into the abyss with Jozée Sarrazin. This story can be found in episode 100 of Les Baladeurs, “The Murmur of the Abyss.” Driven by the call of the distant, humankind has always sought to reach the ends of the earth, from icy peaks to arid deserts, from deep forests to vast, windswept steppes. And when the Earth became too small for its dreams, it looked to the heavens to set foot on the Moon. And yet, right under its nose, a sprawling territory remained unexplored. Uncharted, unmapped, almost forgotten, even though it covers more than 60% of the planet: the abyssal depths of our oceans. An imagined elsewhere, a bottomless abyss where light vanishes and crushing pressure obliterates all hope of life. But instead of emptiness, the first submersibles revealed unsuspected landscapes, where the earth rises into mountains, hollows itself out to its very core, and is pierced by burning vents. And amidst this immeasurable architecture, against all odds: the murmur of life. A life freed from the sun, populated by almost unreal, translucent, and vaporous species whose bodies drift effortlessly in absolute tranquility. A submerged abyssal kingdom, where everything remains to be observed, explored, and understood, and for some, like the oceanaut Jozée Sarrazin, a universe to which they could dedicate a lifetime. In 1995, while still a doctoral student, Jozée studied the deep sea from her laboratory, using samples, reports, and distant fragments, hoping one day to descend in a submersible and perhaps glimpse, through a porthole, the world that had always fueled her dreams. This episode was directed by Thomas Firh, with Inès Cochard as co-director. The narration was presented by Clémence Hacquart. The music was composed by Nicolas de Ferran. Chloé Wibaux handled the editing, and Antoine Martin of Krispy Record studio was responsible for the mixing. 🤝 A huge thank you to Columbia for supporting us on this new season! 🎙 This episode was directed by Thomas Firh, with Inès Cochard as co-director.
