Ouderwets rogge oogsten in Leens

LEENS - Rye was harvested the old-fashioned way at the Verhildersum estate in Leens on Thursday. To promote Verhildersum's historic days in August, ten men harvested one hectare of rye using a hand-held threshing machine and a threshing hook. The men cheated a bit, though, as they ended up using an old threshing machine. The rye has been stored in cages to dry. Visitors to the historic days in August can see how rye is threshed.
