A previously unreleased recording of Carlos Julio Arosemena Monroy before his death has surfaced. In 2003, Carlos Julio Arosemena Monroy, former president of Ecuador, gave one of his last interviews. In it, he spoke unfiltered about military corruption, pressure from the United States on his government, and the causes that, he believed, led to his overthrow in 1963. Arosemena was a controversial figure: he confronted the high command of the Armed Forces, defended national sovereignty against foreign influence, and frankly acknowledged his personal mistakes.
