71000 Duke of Gloucester at Ely (DBLM Steam)

#71000DukeofGloucester #SteamDreams #71000 The Steam Dreams charter from Hayward's Heath to Ely on Saturday 13th June 2026 (steam Willesden to Ely and return). Captured heading north from Ely (ECS move), heading south in the Little Thetford area (from the banks of the Great Ouse) and also three hours earlier on its arrival. A magnificent locomotive, arguably the culmination of BR steam design in the 1950s - and with a very special story of restoration and improvement in recent years. A windy (and yet invigorating) day, somewhat challenging in attempting to capture sound from a distance, hiding the external microphone in a wide open landscape.
