One of Kenya's most important road infrastructure projects is gathering momentum. In this exclusive ground update, I walk from Kabete National Polytechnic to Kangemi Market, documenting the latest progress on the James Gichuru–Rironi Highway Expansion Project, a major upgrade along the A104 highway. Compared to my last visit several months ago, the site has changed significantly. I found extensive ground preparation works, active water bowsers controlling dust, excavation for a new service lane, utility relocation, and ongoing construction activity that shows the project is entering a more intensive phase. I even had the opportunity to ride in one of the construction machines for a unique look at the work from the operator's perspective. The project is designed to improve one of East Africa's busiest transport corridors, linking Nairobi to Nakuru and onward to Uganda and the wider region. It is also expected to reduce congestion, improve road safety, and enhance mobility for commuters and freight transport.
