15-Minute Watercolor Cabin Study | Loose, Fast & Simple

Fifteen minutes. That's all it takes for this watercolor. I painted a little cabin on a lake - or maybe it's a shack, honestly who knows. The whole thing took barely any time. It's intended to be FAST! There's reflection, trees, rocks, perspective. But everything is loose and simple, which is exactly the point. It's a loose watercolor - don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. Sometimes the best watercolor paintings happen when you stop overthinking it and just paint. My students comment on this revelation frequently. Here's what we're doing: We're painting a cabin (or shack) in 15 minutes without sweating the details. You get perspective without construction lines. Trees that actually look like trees but aren't fussy. Rocks that read as rocks. A reflection that works because we kept it simple. Why this matters: This is a quick watercolor study, not necessarily a finished piece - or is it? And that's where the magic happens sometimes. When you give yourself a time limit and tell yourself "loose and simple," you actually end up with a watercolor composition that breathes. Here's what we'll cover: Drawing the basic details for your watercolor - the quick sketch Quick perspective techniques that work for buildings and landscapes Letting the whites in your watercolor draw your eye in Loose watercolor brushwork and simplified shapes that still read as trees, rocks, and water Capturing a reflection in the water without overcomplicating it Why fast and simple watercolor paintings are often the best ones Watch this if you tend to overwork your paintings or get stuck trying to make everything perfect. Sometimes the answer is just to paint faster and looser. Want an extra challenge?? Try painting along without pausing the video and see if you can complete it! I'm using the art of another artist as inspiration. You can find that artist on Pinterest under EMP005. (  / emp005  . I'm not fully certain if they actually created this art either, or if they are just sharing art from other artists. Oh well. Reference Photo: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QmW6...
