Dal Tonale al Passo Paradiso

Departure: Tonale Pass, 1,882 m above sea level Arrival: Paradiso Pass, 2,573 m above sea level I set out very early in the morning and embarked on this extraordinary itinerary. Through mountainous terrain, at times rugged but not impossible, I once again retraced the footsteps of the Great War. Following trail SAT 281, immersed in silence and fatigue, and dominated by a cloudless blue sky, I retraced the final stretch of the ancient mule track, which led me to the ruins of an Austro-Hungarian army outpost, a bastion sheltered by the steep, sharp ridge. Leaving the outpost, I reached Paradiso Pass in about 20 minutes. Tip: To reach the pass, follow the signs on the small bushes, consisting of fluorescent orange stripes. Upon reaching the pass, visit the tunnel, which houses an educational exhibit featuring artifacts from the Great War.
