"La magia del museo te transporta en el espacio y el tiempo." Arquitecta Mariela Amor / Radio UNLa
In this new edition of Caminos y Destinos (Paths and Destinations), in Todo tiene movimiento (Everything's in Motion), we travel to the city of La Plata to explore an initiative that unites science, history, and literature. We welcome to our section architect Mariela Amor, museologist and researcher, who, along with an interdisciplinary team and with the support of CONICET (National Scientific and Technical Research Council) and the Argentine Paleontological Association, has just presented a unique book: "Cuento con historia, la trama secreta, un museo de lo más Pancho" (A Story with History, the Secret Plot, a Museum of the Most Pancho). The book, aimed at children and teenagers, was published at the end of May and symbolically launched on International Museum Day, in homage to the 140th anniversary of the La Plata Museum of Natural Sciences. Through fantastical stories based on real events and scientific documentation, the book achieves the following: It introduces the reader to the museum's secret workings: the voyages of exploration, the conservation of more than 3 million objects, and the daily work of researchers, technicians, fellows, and tradespeople (carpentry, electricity, archives, library). The book also pays homage to Francisco Pascasio Moreno. Through Pancho, one of the characters, the story of the museum's founder is recounted, from his childhood as "Pangolin" to his adulthood, and gives voice to the anonymous workers who sustain the institution. The work includes watercolor illustrations inspired by 19th-century explorers' accounts, a glossary of scientific terms, QR codes with interactive biographical information sheets, and a historical map for independent exploration of the museum. Everything is in motion: Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 12 PM 🌐 Web: radio.unla.edu.ar 📸 Instagram: @radio.unla #CaminosYDestinos #ArgentineScience #MuseoDeLaPlata #ScienceOutreach #ChildrensBooks #CONICET #ArgentinePaleontologicalAssociation #CulturalHeritage #EducationAndScience
